FilmEU - WIRE Horizon Mission Student pilots

WHAT IS THE CALL ABOUT?

FilmEU_WIRE brings together 8 European higher education institutions to collaborate around the common objective of jointly promoting artistic research, innovation and educational activities in the multidisciplinary field of Film and Media Arts. This call is designed to support the integration of young researchers.

The WIRE Horizon Mission Student pilots will foster the use of artistic research to address the six Horizon Missions. FilmEU WIRE advocates that artistic research can play a crucial role in addressing ecological challenges in Europe by fostering creativity, raising awareness, promoting dialogue, and inspiring action. FilmEU is aligned with the European Commission’s Horizon Missions. EU Missions are a new way to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges. They have ambitious goals and will deliver concrete results by 2030. The 6 EU Missions are:

1 - Adaptation to Climate Change: support at least 150 European regions and communities to become climate resilient by 2030

2 - Cancer: working with Europe's Beating Cancer Plan to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and solutions >to live longer and better

3 - Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030

4 - 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030

5 - A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030.

6 - New European Bauhaus aimed at transforming neighbourhoods for the better, making them beautiful, sustainable and inclusive

Therefore, to reinforce this commitment, in 2024, the FilmEU WIRE call for Horizon Mission Student pilots will be focused on the mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” This means that any proposal should, to some extent, touch on this issue.

A student can be awarded up to 5.000 euros in seminal funding for an interdisciplinary pilot project. Fundable items: artistic production; dissemination (i.e. participation in conferences; fee for open-source publication; artistic exhibition). In addition to the 5,000 euros included in this funding, the pilot can also benefit from mobility support. Once the pilot is approved, the researcher should contact their HEI research coordinator about the mobility possibilities. The maximum duration of a cluster is 12 months, starting in June 2024 and ending in June 2025.
