From 8 to 10 October 2025, the WIRE Research Coordinators Days brought together research coordinators and managers at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) in Vilnius. Over three days, participants worked collectively to plan, align, and shape the future of research collaboration within the WIRE network.
The event opened on 8 October with the first meeting of the EARMA Thematic Group on the European Universities Initiative, focusing on Research Management in Practice: Collaboration, Funding, and Researcher Development in Alliances. The following two days continued the momentum, shifting from discussion to hands-on coordination and joint strategy development.
Day 2 centred on planning upcoming WIRE schools and capacity-building opportunities for researchers, students, PhD candidates, and non-academic staff. Participants explored the timing and mobility frameworks within the ILLUMINA, COLLEGIUM, and DOCTUS programs, and discussed the design of training content and exchange formats. The day also addressed upcoming WIRE events such as ARE 26, the WIRE Summit in Lisbon, and strategies for strengthening the WIRE Hub, Catalyser, and PhD community.
Day 3 opened with joint policy discussions and continued with an in-depth exploration of the Research Assessment Pathway, focusing on how to recognise and support diversity in artistic research practices and communities.
The WIRE Research Coordinators Days in Vilnius exemplified the collaborative spirit that defines the WIRE and FilmEU alliance — shared leadership, mutual learning, and the co-creation of strategies that strengthen artistic research and education across Europe.
